Supervisory training was another priority voted by the presidents as part of the
WAICU Collaboration Project, and it is now an ongoing program administered by WAICU.
The idea is not only to save money with joint training, but also to offer programs specifically designed for higher education.
Unlike most current offerings in the marketplace, this WAICU “private label” supervisory training program features courses geared toward higher education rather than general business.
The curriculum, developed with the input of the WAICU Human Resources Directors Group, includes a focus on basic leadership, communication, and conflict resolution; interviewing, coaching and discipline techniques; and delegation, time management, diversity, and team leadership skills.
Elective courses are offered in Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) compliance and how to conduct an effective interview.
The WAICU training program meets the criteria for awarding CEUs according to the International Association for Continuing Education and Training (IACET) guidelines, and CEUs are recorded for all participants.
